Day 3, A Good One

Today was a good day. This was day 3 of chemo and there are still no side effects. So far the chemo treatment has been delightfully uneventful.

Harry and Eileen took their morning walk around the hospital. After getting settled back into the hospital room, the usual round of nurses and doctors made a steady flow in and out of the room, checking Harry's vital signs and things of that nature. As you can see, visitors and nurses are outfitted with gowns and masks so as not bring outside germs into the room. Phaedra came to visit around 11am and joined them for an afternoon two mile walk. Harry, ever true to his boy scout roots, pointed out the various kinds of trees and plants along the hospital trail. It was "blue bird" weather as Harry likes to say.



Harry is quite confident and comfortable in his little cocoon there at St. Francis Hospital with Eileen by his side. He keeps himself busy with books, lecture tapes and Bach. Those who know Harry never doubt his strength (physical and mental) or optimism. We know that both of these things will see him through this. Of course he also has the support, love and positivity of his family and friends.

Tomorrow Harry begins the fourth day of chemo. He will be given two new medications, Daunorubicin and Cytarabine, which will continue for 7 days. There will be more details about medications and procedures tomorrow, as well as some helpful links and information. For now we wanted to keep the daily report from St. Francis short and sweet.
