Hello Fellow Blog Readers.
Absent any big news of the medical sort, I'll lead with the following:
Eileen called me today to remind me specifically to tell you all the following: despite a disorienting, yo-yo fever, a truly irritating catheter, a near total lack of appetite, and mind boggling fatigue, Dad is still managing to be charming, say please and thank you, and even crack a few jokes. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Dad is still his perfect self, even under all that pressure. Amazing. Just amazing.
So here's the medical news, sparse as it is:
Dad is now back on the 5th floor.
His blood counts are still very low, but we expect some rise in those number pretty soon.
He had what E descibed as a "rough " night (due to catheter annoyance, blood transfusions, and just feeling feverish).
Dr. O'Rourke visited and said that he did NOT expect Dad to have to return to the ICU - that we are just "waiting the infection out."
His organ function remains just fine.
I have to report (without her approval and probably against her wishes) that Eileen, bless her heart, is totally exhausted. Please throw another nickel's worth up there for Eileen to get 8 consecutive hours of sleep ever again. Dear E needs it probably just as much as Dad does at this point...
So until tomorrow, LPCTC, keep doing what you do. In spite of the lack of news, we still need to whole crew pulling (and lifting and pushing and bending and reaching and even sometimes carrying, apparently. Thank you, Steve, and welcome to the team. :-) )

Thanks so much, Jen, for keeping us informed. We continue our spiritual support daily. Eileen, we thank God regularly for your presence in our family and for your grace and patience. Here's hoping you get some rest. We intend that soon this ordeal will become a distant memory for you both.
